Great suggestions, Jilly! I’ve had this discussion about a couple of different projects and I agree, if you’re going to use social media, you’ve got to take lumps. If it’s an idea worth keeping, supporters are the best ones to define a response.

Very true. I found out that I got into Bishop’s when the basketball coach – who is now a good friend of mine – called my mom. And then my dad spent 45 minutes on the phone (mostly nodding and saying ‘uh-huh, I see’) with a professor from the History department, because that’s what I wanted to study and my dad wanted to make sure that they knew what they were doing.

Pretty great.

Preach! I was thinking the same thing when I read the Academica Top 10 this week.

I found out I was accepted at Bishop’s after my mom texted me that she had just got off the phone with a BU student welcoming me to the university.

Then, two years later I was the one making those calls. It’s a magical place.

We need more cultural entrepreneurs who move & shake their own local spheres. If we all had a heightened sense of expectation, we could all kick butt. Don’t show up to a concert and blame the crowd for being dead. Decide – are you a sheep or something higher up on the food chain.
